Topical issues on the creation and development of the CSTO collective security system

The collapse of the Soviet Union changed the military and political situation in the world. There was a wide range of global threats to the state from the international terrorism, separatism and religious extremism. In modern historical conditions no country alone can oppose to the threats. The article deals with topical issues of the establishment and development of the CSTO collective security system, which positions itself as a multi-functional organization of a new type of security that combines in a single structure the opposition to the traditional external military threats and new threats and challenges. The authors state that in modern conditions the CSTO is a key factor for peace and stability in the post-Soviet territory.

Ideology virus from the West

The article is published within the research project, “Education of Patriotism among Officer Cadets and Cadets in the Educational Process of Military University”. Morale as the guarantee of the Brusilov Offensive

The article discusses the content and organization of the activity of the Commander of the Southwestern Front General A. Brusilov and his subordinate commanders to build and sustain the “moral elasticity” of troops in the course of the tactical offensive operation in 1916 (May 22 - September 7, O.S.). It describes the ways to convince and mobilize the troops as well as the ways to intimidate used by the Commander of the Southwestern Front to succeed. The experience gained in the creation of the morale of the troops is still valid and can be translated into the practice of training, education, morale and psychological support of the modern Russian army.

'Do not provoke a war’: on the matter of the surprise German attack on the USSR on June 22, 1941

On the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War the author raises and considers the issues of the preparedness of the Soviet intelligence to provide the political and military leadership of the country with the information about Germany's preparations for the outbreak of the war as well as the reasons for the defeat of the troops of the western border districts in June and July 19141. The article gives a detailed analysis of successful disinformation activities of the German secret service that ensured a surprise attack on the Soviet Union. We consider the activities of the UK to push the German aggression against the Soviet Union. An important place is given to the study of errors in the plans of the General Staff of the Red Army for the initial period of war.

Ukraine's fate in the Ost genaral plan

The article analyzes the Ost general plan - a set of documents of the Nazi leadership to enslave and destroy the peoples of the USSR and to plunder the Soviet territory, as well as the practical policy of the Third Reich to implement the plan. It shows that if the Nazi had won the World War II the population of Eastern Europe would have faced the true genocide. It pay particular attention to the plans and actions of the German administration in regard to the Soviet Ukraine.

Soviet Air Force in the Caucasian region during the Cold War

The article presents the little-known facts about the composition and use of the combat aviation of the Armed Forces of the USSR in the Caucasus in 1945-1991. Soviet pilots in the region resisted the intelligence and provocative sorties conducted by NATO aircraft from the air bases in Turkey, Iraq, and Iran. The article states that the composition of the Soviet Air Group in the Caucasus allowed it to successfully ensure the military security of the strategic area in the post-war decades.

Philosophy as the worldview and methodology of military activity

The article discusses the philosophical knowledge as a type of the worldview and a method of cognition of the surrounding reality allowing adequately and convincingly present the content required ideas, mindsets and regulators in the activities of military personnel. The particular attention is paid to the specificity of the philosophical knowledge as a mentor and a regulator of the military-administrative activity. It concludes that the philosophy applied to the military management involves the observance of a certain sequence and logic rules that come from philosophical, methodological and logical-methodological requirements to the process.

Continuous military training of officers in Russia: historical experience and current problems

The article presents the results of the analysis of the historical and pedagogical training experience in the officer training in Russian and Red (Soviet) Army. It stresses the existing shortcomings and failures in the modernization of a multi-level system of vocational education, which, in author’s opinion, reduces the effectiveness of training of military personnel for the Armed Forces. The transition to a new generation of war raises the need to develop the modern concept of continuous military training of officers, the same for all structures of the military organization of the state.

Synergy context of the competence paradigm of education

Psycological training: history, theory, practice

The article examines the historical, theoretical, methodological and methodical aspects of the psychological training, as well as its place and role in the system of combat training of the Russian Armed Forces. The authors analyze the existing approaches to the content of the psychological training and prove its concept based on the Galperin theory of orienting activity, both in peacetime and in wartime. It reveals the characteristics of the primary and secondary actions, defines the limits of their application, justifies the order, forms and methods to form the action, as well as the ability to monitor the configured action (and its adjustment) at any stage of military training, including the final outcome.

Cherished book of the Russian Army

Military University of the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation, under the auspices of the Russkiy Put' Publishers published the 25th anniversary edition of the Russian military collection with a remarkable name "Serving Russia: actual heritage Generalissimo A. Military education – the right choice of a Russian patriot!

In order to provide the military-professional orientation of school leavers and graduates of professional educational organizations, who want to enter higher military educational institutions of the Russian Ministry of Defense, we prepared and published the second amended and revised edition of a universal reference, "There is such a profession – to defend the Motherland!” The book answers various questions connected with the choice of the profession of an officer, specialties of the entrance and training at military-educational institutions. The reference was designed by a team of the Main Personnel Directorate of the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation under the general supervision of the State Secretary / Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation N. Pankov.
