On the necessity and appropriateness of defense expenditures

The article discusses the problem of the controversial nature of defense spending. On the one hand, low defense spending threatens national security and the fundamental possibility of the progressive development of the national economy. On the other hand, excessive defense spending undermines the basis of expanded reproduction. The author summarizes the views of different scholars and, via the comparative, normative and positive analysis and synthesis, shows that the military preparations may not have a beneficial impact on the national economy and require powerful ideological support.
