Succession and loyalty: “Creating new based on traditions”

The Military University started the 100th anniversary academic year. The congratulatory events are not that far off. The University always worked in the best interests of the Russian Federation Armed Forces and other power departments. The most important features of the Military University are the succession and commitment to the time-proved traditions of the predecessors - the unique institutions of the higher military school. The Head of the Military University of the Russian Federation Armed Forces Lieutenant General Mishutkin Igor Viktorovich tells about the way the famous University is going to celebrate the centenarian anniversary.

Establishment of the higher military-political school (1919 – 1938)

The article reveals the heroic history of the first talent foundry of political workers for the Soviet Armed Forces – Lenin Military Academy which successor is Military University. The author analyses historical evidences of Lenin Military Academy’s development in perspective of common stages of Armed Forces development in the Soviet period of national history since the moment of Petrograd Teacher’s Institute of the Red Army named after N.G. Tolmatchev foundation November 5, 1919 until January 11, 1938, when the Academy was renamed after V.I. Lenin and moved from Leningrad to Moscow.

The article is devoted to the Lenin Military Academy that prepared the military-political specialists that are again highly demanded in the modern conditions. The main events related to the Academy activities after its relocation from Leningrad to Moscow are unfolded to the readers. The article demonstrates the difficulties of the pre-war period, the heroism of the Academy graduates on the grounds of the Great Patriotic War, especially the peculiarities of the commissars’ foundry development during the Cold War. The achievements of the higher military-political school, gallery of the leaders, professors and graduates that glorified the University are represented.

Training of humanitarian and socio-economic disciplines lecturers for military educational institutions (1918 – 1991)

The article is devoted to the training of the USSR military Institutions lecturers of the humanitarian and social-economical disciplines. The author gives some facts and generalizations of the training system of the higher military-pedagogical schools, M.I. Kalinin Higher Military-Pedagogical Institute and the Lenin Military Academy (up to 1938 – named after N.G. Tolmachev). Basing on the historical experience some offers of developing the educational system, professional selection and training of the military Institutions lecturers of the humanitarian and social-economical disciplines in modern conditions are reasoned and formulated.

Military Comissar N.G. Tolmachev – the founder of the Red Army large-scale political officers training

The article is devoted to the famous initiator of soviet force development Nikolay Gurievich Tolmachev, the father of the systems of the cultural and educational work within the Red Army soldiers and accelerated training of the junior and intermediate political officers during the Russian Civil War. The events and facts connected to the life and activities of the famous commissar are discerned. The author proves the idea that N.G. Tolmachev was not involved to the Royal family execution. It is shown that the name of N.G.Tolmachev after whom the military-political institutions - the predecessors of the Military University, is the symbol of the new political officers training system creation.

A hero “missing in action”: major F.Z. Babachenko’s heroism and tragedy

The article is devoted to the one of the officers that graduated the Lenin Military-Political Academy. The heroic and at the same time tragic fate of the Hero of the Soviet Union Fedor Zaharovich Babachenko. The Hero of the Soviet-Finnish War of 1939-1940 he was an active participant of the Great Periodic War. He knew the bitterness of retreat, fighted to the death in Stalingrad, took part in the battle of Kursk. The article is based on the documents and publications of the national and foreign archives.

Senior lieutenant E.A. Sukharev’s “sky walk”

The article highlights the combat and service history of Evstafiy A. Sukharev. He was an attack plane pilot of the World War II, a Hero of the Soviet Union and then between 1952 and 1986 – an assistant professor of the Air Force department of the Lenin Military-Political Academy. According to the archival documents of the 686th Sevastopol Attack Aviation Regiment, the most vivid battle episodes of his accomplishments during the war are revealed. In the author’s opinion, the experience that Sukharev brought to the academy education is an invaluable contribution to the training and morale of modern officers, as well as their patriotic consciousness.

The article shows the importance of psychological and pedagogical ideas and scientific and pedagogical activities of the first chief of the military pedagogic and military psychology academic department of the Lenin Military Academy A.V. Barabanschikov for development of Russian science. It is demonstrated that time proved the accuracy of the theoretical and methodological approaches that still are the reference point for the academic teaching staff and military pedagogic and military psychology researchers. The facts and evaluative judgments given in the article are based on the previously published works of the author, the apprentice of A.V. Barabanschikov.

The higher military-political school reformation in post-Soviet era (1991 – 2019)

The article closes the series of publications in the “Military Academic Journal” about the becoming and development of the higher military-political school. The retrospective analysis of the post-Soviet reformation of the higher military-political school basing on the new educational paradigm focused on the specialists training for moral affairs bodies of the Russian Federation Armed Forces is offered. The stages and special aspects of the activities of the psychological and moral support department of the Military University, its contribution to the becoming and development of the psychological and moral support and military-political work scientific school are discussed. The contribution of the teaching staff to the highly skilled officers training for the military-political work system in the Russian Federation Armed Forces is shown.

Instructors-pioneers of the Military University: on the issue of the military playing-technical school origins

The article is devoted to the unique experience of innovative advanced teacher training becoming. The main episodes of the military gaming school development history are represented in stages. The creation and work organization of the nonorganic research and procedure centre of innovative educational technologies in the Humanitarian Academy of the Russian Federation Armed Forces and then the Military University of the Russian Federation Armed Forces are demonstrated. The actions of introduction of innovations to the educational process and some of the results are shown. The offers for further innovations of the educational process in military universities in the modern conditions are formulated.

Victorious military classics

The article characterizes the indigenous military classics as the integral Science of Conquering. The special attention is paid to the necessity of practical usage of its abundant and instructive content that now is demonstrated in 29 issues of “Russian Military Collection” and some issues of “Military Academic Journal”. The main victorious instructions of Peter the Great, A.V. Suvorov, M.I. Kutuzov, M.D. Scobelev, A.E. Snesarev and G.K. Zhukov are summarized. Infantry General E.F. Komarovsky’s creative heritage

The article is devoted to the 250th anniversary of the founder of the Russian internal guard, general E.F. Komarovsky. The main ideas of his creative heritage, main biography highlights are given. The special attention is paid to the ideas of the military-administrative organization of the state, the principles of reaction to the state and society safety threats, his activities on the struggle against official misconducts and other abuses. It is shown that the ideas of E.F. Komarovsky are realized in the modern military organization of the Russian Federation.

Specifics of the Red Army political work in the second half of the 1930s

The article explains the changes in the organization of party-political work of the Red Army in the pre-war period. The important problem of joint military and political training of the Red Army personnel that played a fundamental role in a regular army formation is noticed. It is underlined that in the conditions of the establishment of the principle of unity of command some commanders underestimated the importance of the party-political work. The authors call attention to the fact that despite repressions the political workers were perfecting the standards of the political work in the Army.
